Makino actually developed the very first NC milling machine in Japan in 1958 and the first NC EDM machine in 1980. Other significant contributions in manufacturing include the industry's first high speed spindle, EDM offline programming software, and a horizontal wire EDM that automatically threads and machines with a 0.02 mm wire.
