LIECHTI ENGINEERING AG in Langnau/Switzerland has been involved in the manufacture of high-production machine tools since the 60s. Since 1983, LIECHTI ENGINEERING AG has focused on the production of single and multi-spindle milling systems for high speed machining complex curved surfaces such as turbine blades, impellers and blisks for engine units and gas/steam turbines.

The company is now one of the market leaders in this technology segment. The LIECHTI TURBOMILL, the first 5-axis milling system for medium-sized turbine components, was developed in 1994. A further specialization developed by LIECHTI in 1997 was the TURBOBLISK, a high-production 6-axis milling machining system for efficient production of medium to large blisks in one setup.

In 2002, the developments on the market with the trend towards smaller turbines and components, the urgent need for broader areas of application and demands for higher productivity induced LIECHTI to introduce the g-Mill 550, an new ultra-dynamic 5-axis machining center.
